Core Staff
Shū Honma (Ya Boy Kongming!, Mayonaka Punch, Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 “Sisters”) is directing the anime at P.A. Works. Yōko Yonaiyama (Botan Kamiina Fully Blossoms When Drunk, mono, Ya Boy Kongming!) is handling series scripts. Tadahito Kiyosawa is the character designer, with Masami Gohda as sub-character designer; both also serve as chief animation directors.
Synopsis
Rein is an enchanter whose magic strengthens equipment — but one day his guild unceremoniously kicks him out, reasoning that every piece of gear they own has already been fully enhanced. Furious at the absurd dismissal, Rein reclaims all the mana he had poured into the guild’s equipment over the years. When he casually channels that mana into a random copper sword, it instantly becomes a cheat-tier weapon boasting 10,000 enhancement points.
With no combat experience to speak of but the power to turn any object into overpowered gear, Rein sets out to live a free, easygoing life as an adventurer. Set in a world where magic and science coexist, the story blends wild humor with layered character drama — a combination that had fans buzzing with theories long before the anime was ever announced.
Source Material
Asa Rokushima began serializing the original light novel on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in January 2021 and continues to update it. Kodansha published the first print volume — illustrated by kisui — in January 2022, followed by the second volume in October 2022.
Gyōmuyōmochi‘s manga adaptation launched in Kodansha’s Shōnen Magazine R in November 2021, then moved to Kodansha’s Comic Days app in March 2023 after Shōnen Magazine R ceased publication. The manga’s 20th compiled volume was released on May 8. Kodansha is also distributing the manga digitally in English through its K MANGA service.
