The official website for the second season of the The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World (Hyōken no Majutsushi ga Sekai wo Suberu) television anime, based on Nana Mikoshiba’s light novel series, has announced that the new season will premiere on TBS on October 8 at 1:23 a.m., with a repeat broadcast on October 9 at 11:00 p.m.

Theme Songs

Sizuk will perform the opening theme “Diamond Dust,” while Maaya Uchida returns to sing the ending theme “Compression :[“. Both artists contributed theme songs to the first season. The team also unveiled a new key visual on Wednesday.

Miyu Kubota takes over the role of Elisa Griffith from Nana Harumura, who retired from voice acting in January due to health reasons. Hana Hishikawa joins the cast as new character Olivia Arnold.

Staff

Masahiro Takata returns as director, and also oversees series scripts and serves as sound director. The animation studio changes from Cloud Hearts (Season 1) to Zero-G. Returning scriptwriter Tomoko Shinozuka is joined by newcomer Takahito Ōnishi (Whisper Me a Love Song, My Happy Marriage). Mariko Kawamoto (Magica Wars) steps in as the new character designer, replacing Makoto Shimojima.

Background

The first season of the anime premiered in January 2023. Crunchyroll streamed the series with both subtitles and an English dub.

Mikoshiba’s original web novel launched on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in October 2019, followed by a print light novel series in July 2020 with illustrations by Riko Korie, published by Kodansha in Japan.

Norihito Sasaki’s manga adaptation ran in Magazine Pocket from June 2020 to January 2024, concluding with its 16th volume in April 2024. Kodansha USA Publishing holds the English license.

A sequel manga, Hyōken no Majutsushi ga Sekai wo Suberu II, launched on May 27 on Niconico Manga under Kodansha’s “Suiyōbi no Sirius” label, with art by Nao Kagami and composition by Ishiya Ōgane.
