NBC Universal has announced two additional cast members for the television anime adaptation of Otsuji’s manga My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren’t Wicked (Ibitte Konai Gibo to Gishi). Both new characters are scheduled to make their first appearance in the anime’s eighth episode, airing on August 26.

The anime is produced at NEWON under the direction of Keisuke Inoue, known for My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! and Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero. Nanami Hoshino (Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!) handles series scripts, while Mutsumi Sasaki (Laid-Back Camp, Chaos;HEAd) serves as character designer and chief animation director.
Lia performs the opening theme “Amayadori no Shōkei” (Longing to Take Shelter From the Rain), and AVAM performs the ending theme “Claire.”
Story
The series is a comedic, award-winning reimagining of the Cinderella fairy tale. Miya, the illegitimate daughter of a prominent family, is taken in after her mother’s death fully expecting cruelty from her new stepmother and stepsisters — only to discover they are anything but wicked. Seven Seas publishes the manga in English, with volume 8 released on June 23. The manga originally launched in Ichijinsha’s Comic POOL digital magazine in November 2020, and the 10th compiled volume is due out on August 25.
