The official website for the television anime adaptation of Kyouko Hikawa‘s shōjo manga From Far Away (Kanata Kara) unveiled the series’ main promotional video, key visual, and a new wave of cast and staff announcements on Wednesday.

Theme Songs

The main PV previews both theme songs for the first time. Boy group Genin wa Jibun ni Aru. (GNJB) performs the opening theme “Tōkōkō,” while four-piece band Nanashi no Tarō handles the ending theme “Hikari no Gawa de” (At the Side of Light).

Core Staff

Veteran director Noriyuki Abe — known for Bleach, Flame of Recca, and GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka — helms the production at Studio DEEN. Rika Takasugi (Ōoku: The Inner Chambers, Yakuza Fiancé: Raise wa Tanin ga Ii) is handling series scripts, Eiji Abiko (Mr. Osomatsu seasons 3 & 4, Even a Replica Can Fall in Love) is designing the characters, and Takeshi Hama (Champignon Witch, Idol Time PriPara) is composing the score.

Story

On an ordinary day walking home from school, Noriko is suddenly swept into a strange fantasy world. She is rescued by a courageous young man named Izark — but beneath his brave exterior lies the darkest evil imaginable. An ancient prophecy warns that Noriko herself holds the power to unleash that evil. Bound together by fate, the two must journey through a world that is as wondrous as it is dangerous.

Broadcast Schedule

The anime premieres on Tokyo MX on October 4 at 24:00 JST (effectively midnight on October 5), followed by ABC TV on October 10 and WOWOW on October 13.

About the Manga

Hikawa’s manga ran in Hakusensha‘s LaLa magazine from 1991 to 2002, concluding with its 14th compiled volume in 2003. A seven-volume bunko edition was released between 2004 and 2005. Viz Media publishes the series in English.
