The second teaser visual for the in-production TV anime Kin to Tetsu (菌と鉄) has been unveiled for the first time in Japan. The image shows the back of a young boy standing up to a massive enemy in a world threaded with white fungal mycelium — that boy is Dante, the series’ protagonist. According to the announcement, this visual reportedly has a continuation, so further updates are expected.
About Kin to Tetsu
Kin to Tetsu is a popular manga by Katayama Ayaka, praised for its weighty blend of dystopian sci-fi and human drama. Set in a world where humanity is entirely controlled by a world government known as “Amigasa” — which uses fungal organisms to dominate the human brain — the story explores universal themes of freedom and what it means to be human.
The protagonist, Dante, is a soldier of Amigasa who exists as an irregular element threatening the order of the managed society. An encounter with a young girl becomes the catalyst for his resolve to overturn the rules of this world.
Manga Reaching Its Climax
The manga’s final chapter will be published with a cover and color pages in the October issue of Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine, on sale September 9. The 10th and final volume of the collected edition is also set for release on October 8, bringing the story to its conclusion amid a surge of fan excitement.
Anime Staff
The TV anime is directed by Motonaga Keitaro, known for his work on Hametsu no Ōkoku and the Saikyō no Ōsama, Nidome no Jinsei wa Nani wo Suru? series. Animation production is handled by Yokohama Animation Lab.
