AUGUST Inc. has announced it is developing Uta Macross, a “revival” of the Macross franchise’s original rhythm game Uta Macross: Smartphone De Culture, planned for release on iOS, Android, and Steam next spring. The franchise’s English-language social media accounts have also teased that the revived title will support both Japanese and English.
Crowdfunding on Campfire
To support development, the company is launching a crowdfunding campaign on the Japanese platform Campfire, with a goal of 30,000,000 yen (approximately US$190,000) over 54 days. Funds raised will go toward adding more songs, expanding platform support, and developing additional in-game content.
Gameplay and Features
Uta Macross is a rhythm game bringing together singers and pilots from across the Macross franchise. Players will be able to enjoy classic songs from The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Macross Plus, Macross 7, Macross Frontier, and Macross Delta, including characters from both their TV series and theatrical film entries.
Popular content from the original live-service version — including live performances and artwork — will carry over into the rebuilt game. The new version will also introduce mouse and keyboard support alongside the original touchscreen controls, and will feature full offline play.

Remaining songs from the original live-service game, along with select additional Plates and outfits, will be made available as separate DLC.
About the Original Game
The original Uta Macross: Smartphone De Culture launched on iOS and Android in August 2017, delayed from a planned spring 2017 debut. Billed as the franchise’s “first super-dimensional rhythm game,” it featured the tactical music unit Walküre from Macross Delta as well as beloved characters such as Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee. The game ended service in June 2022.
