Akihito Yoshitomi’s SF action manga EAT-MAN is returning as a completely new TV anime titled EAT-MAN The Over Order. A teaser video and a tease visual drawn by Yoshitomi himself have been unveiled to mark the announcement.
About EAT-MAN
EAT-MAN follows Bolt Crank, the world’s greatest adventurer, who possesses the extraordinary ability to eat screws and metal objects and manifest them as weapons. The original manga ran in Monthly Dengeki Comic Gao! (MediaWorks) from 1996 to 2003, and a sequel series, EAT-MAN THE MAIN DISH, was serialized in Monthly Shōnen Sirius (Kodansha) from 2014 to 2019. The franchise was previously adapted into TV anime in both 1997 and 1998; this new production marks its third anime adaptation.
Staff and Cast
Yoshitomi himself is handling the screenplay and original design concepts. Shunji Oga, known for directing the anime adaptations of Golgo 13 and Romance of the Three Kingdoms, is serving as director. Satoshi Hirayama, a veteran of the Lupin the Third franchise, is in charge of character design, and Studio Cab is producing the animation.
Veteran voice actor Masashi Ebara reprises his role as Bolt Crank, a part he played in both previous anime adaptations — reuniting with the character after more than 30 years.
Teaser Visual and Video
The teaser visual depicts Bolt Crank standing atop the wreckage of machinery, wielding a massive weapon, with a backdrop of sprawling structures stretching to the horizon — evoking a world where civilizational prosperity and decay coexist.
The teaser video opens with the message “To everyone who loves the Heisei era —” before showing Bolt Crank picking up a screw from a desolate wasteland and quietly declaring, “It’s time to work.” The clip closes with the word “Complete” as an enormous weapon comes into view.
