Mausu Promotion, the talent agency representing voice actor Kentarō Itō, has issued a statement revealing that the actor suddenly fell ill a few days ago and was rushed to hospital, where he was found to be suffering from a brain hemorrhage. He underwent emergency surgery on the same day.

The agency confirmed that Itō’s life is not in danger and that his postoperative recovery is progressing well. Nevertheless, he will be stepping back from all professional activities for the time being in order to focus on rehabilitation, with the goal of eventually returning to work. Mausu Promotion added that a further announcement will be made once a return date has been determined.

A Prolific Career in Voice Acting

Itō is a highly active voice actor with credits spanning anime, video games, stage productions, and the dubbing of Western animated series. Among his most notable roles are:

  • Yoshitake Shiraishi in Golden Kamuy
  • Han Ki (Huan Yi) in Kingdom
