Fans of the long-running anime Nintama Rantaro (忍たま乱太郎) have something new to look forward to: Furyu’s popular “Mochipiko” (もちぴこ) plush brand is launching a brand-new series featuring the show’s beloved characters dressed in casual, everyday clothes — a first for the line. The dolls will roll out at arcade prize machines across Japan in four consecutive monthly waves from September through December 2026, covering a total of 12 characters.
About Nintama Rantaro
Based on the ninja comedy manga by Amako Sohei, Nintama Rantaro follows the comedic daily lives of young ninja students Rantaro, Shinbe, and Kirimaru as they train at the Ninjutsu Academy. The TV anime has been airing since 1993 and has built a devoted fanbase across generations.
Most recently, a theatrical film — Gekijouban Nintama Rantaro: Dokutake Ninjatai Saikyou no Gunshi — opened on December 20, 2024, adapted from a fan-favourite novel. The film takes a more serious tone than the TV series, opening with the disappearance of teacher Doi Hansuke as he heads to a duel with Tasogaredoki ninja Moroizumi Takanamon.
What Is Mochipiko?
Mochipiko is a Furyu original plush brand known for its soft, squishy faces and compact rounded silhouettes. While previous Nintama Rantaro Mochipiko releases featured the characters in their ninja uniforms, this new series marks the first time they appear in casual attire. Each plush measures approximately 15 cm, is easy to display, and comes with a loop cord on the head so it can be attached to bags. Character-specific details — hairstyles, expressions, and clothing colours and patterns — are faithfully reproduced on each figure.

- Wave 4 — December 2026 (Week 4): Nakazaike Choji, Nanamatsu Koheta, Yamada Toshikichi
