Shinei Animation announced at the ABEMA Anime Matsuri 2026 event on Saturday that ATASHIn’CHI Next, the newest net anime entry in the long-running ATASHIn’CHI franchise, will be getting a new batch of episodes. The studio also released a teaser video for the upcoming installment online.
Director and Release Schedule
Taku Kimura, known for directing Chainsmoker Cat, is helming the series. The first batch of five episodes aired on a monthly schedule from June through October 2024. A second batch of five episodes then followed, releasing on the 20th of each month from November through March.
Celebrating 30 Years of the Original Manga
The anime was produced to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Eiko Kera‘s original manga. It adapts stories from the source material that were never covered in any of the previous anime adaptations.
Story
Shinei Animation and AlphaBoat describe the anime as follows:
ATASHIn’CHI depicts the everyday life of the Tachibana family: Mother, who tries her best at everything despite her clumsiness; Father, who says little and insists on doing things his own way; Mikan, a high school romantic; and Yuzuhiko, who may seem emotionless at first but is actually quite naïve.
