A super teaser PV for the new TV anime “Shin Oishinbo” (新 美味しんぼ) was unveiled at the Shin-Ei Animation 50th Anniversary Special Stage during ABEMA Anime Fes 2026, held on September 19–20.
A Legendary Food Battle Returns
Based on the manga by Kariya Tetsu and Hanasaki Akira, Oishinbo follows the fierce culinary rivalry between the “Ultimate Menu” championed by the Tozai Shinbunsha newspaper company and the “Supreme Menu” led by the formidable Kaibara Yuzan. The original TV anime, produced by Shin-Ei Animation, began airing in 1988.
“Shin Oishinbo” marks the franchise’s return to animation more than 35 years after the previous series concluded, announced as part of Shin-Ei Animation’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
Additionally, the official Oishinbo YouTube channel is scheduled to stream “Oishinbo Nyumon: Kessakku Episode Matome” — a compilation of standout episodes for newcomers — on September 25 at 8:00 p.m. JST.
Atashin’chi NEXT Gets a New Director
The same event also brought news that “Atashin’chi NEXT” (あたしンちNEXT), the ongoing anime adaptation of Kera Eiko‘s manga that launched in 2024, will produce new episodes. The series has been adapting previously unanimated stories from the original manga.
For the upcoming new episodes, Kimura Taku — director of TV anime “Yanineko” — has been announced as the new series director.
