The TV anime Akazukin, Tabi no Tochuu de Shitai to Deau. (Little Red Riding Hood Encounters a Corpse on Her Journey.) has been confirmed to premiere in January 2027 on TOKYO MX, BS Nittele, and Yomiuri TV. Alongside the broadcast announcement, the production revealed six new cast members, the first key visual, and the first promotional video.
About the Series
The anime is based on the Akazukin Series of novels by Aoyagi Michito, published by Futaba Bunko. The series blends classic fairy-tale settings with mystery and suspense, following familiar storybook characters as they become entangled in surprisingly dark criminal cases. Miyamoto Yume voices Little Red Riding Hood, and Sekine Akiyoshi voices Pinocchio.

The first key visual depicts Little Red Riding Hood and Pinocchio standing back-to-back — Red Riding Hood deep in thought, Pinocchio looking uneasy — surrounded by a cast of supporting characters including Jill. The first PV showcases the moment Red Riding Hood meets Pinocchio and the pair are drawn into a criminal incident, with the tone shifting gradually from the warmth of a fairy tale into genuine suspense.

Shiraishi Ryoko (Narrator): “It was my first time taking on a narrator role in anime, so I was quite nervous. That said, Red Riding Hood is so sharp and the other characters explain things so well that there wasn’t much for me to do! (laughs) The story, which brings together characters from so many beloved fairy tales, is wonderfully fresh and fun.”
