Why DMM TV Stands Out

Among all the options, DMM TV offers the best value for viewers who want to watch Season 1 from start to finish. At just ¥550 a month — the lowest price on the list — with a 14-day free trial and a 550-point welcome bonus, it lets new subscribers follow Hiraku’s journey from a monster-filled forest all the way to the founding of the Great Tree Village without a large upfront commitment.

Story and Highlights

The anime is based on the light novel series by Naito Kinosuke (published by KADOKAWA), originally serialised on the user-generated fiction site Shōsetsuka ni Narō. The TV anime is directed by Kuratani Ryoichi and produced by animation studio Zero-G, airing on TV Tokyo, BS TV Tokyo, and AT-X.

In Season 1 (January 2023, 12 episodes), Machio Hiraku — a young man who spent much of his life ill before passing away — is granted a second life in another world by a deity, along with an all-purpose farming tool. Dropped into a forest teeming with monsters, Hiraku begins clearing land and cultivating crops. Word spreads, and an unlikely community forms around him: vampires, elves, angels, and even a dragon, eventually growing into the settlement known as the Great Tree Village.

Season 2 (from 6 April 2026, 12 episodes) picks up with the now-thriving village welcoming waves of new residents including minotaurs and centaurs, opening a lively new chapter of otherworldly agricultural life.

The series’ appeal lies in its unhurried, slice-of-life tone — tilling fields, building homes, and sharing meals with a diverse cast of companions takes precedence over battles or grand quests. The music is also a highlight: the Season 1 opening theme “Flower Ring” is performed by ルールーシー=ルー (CV: Shimoji Shino) and ティア (CV: Suzaki Aya), while Season 2 uses “It’s a beautiful story”. Both ending themes — “Feel the winds” (Season 1) and “Sunny Steps” (Season 2) — are sung by Hizuki Yui.
