An official collaboration visual has been revealed between Gekijouban Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten — the Shaft-produced film currently screening nationwide in Japan since August 28 — and the upcoming ufotable theatrical anime Mahoutsukai no Yoru, set to open on November 20, 2026.
The newly drawn illustration, created jointly by both studios, depicts Kaname Madoka, the protagonist of Madoka☆Magica, and Aozaki Aoko, the protagonist of Mahoutsukai no Yoru, standing back-to-back. A collaboration announcement video has also been released alongside the launch of a dedicated special website.
Voice Actress Comments
Yuki Aoi (voice of Kaname Madoka)
A collaboration between Madoka☆Magica and Mahoutsukai no Yoru — even I was surprised! The illustration of Madoka and Aoko side by side is absolutely wonderful. I got so excited seeing this special piece that crosses the boundaries between the two works. Since magic is depicted differently in each story, it might be even more fun to look for the differences and similarities between the two. Two magical stories, each with their own distinct charm — I hope this collaboration becomes an opportunity for everyone to enjoy both worlds!
Tomatsu Haruka (voice of Aozaki Aoko)
A collaboration with the legendary Madoka☆Magica! I was surprised, but so happy! Even though both works share “magic” as a common thread, each has its own unique take on what magic means, so seeing the two characters interact across their respective worlds felt really fresh. I think the collaboration content is something special in its own right, and I hope fans of both series will enjoy it.
Double Campaign: Win Collaboration Posters
A special “W Campaign” has been announced, giving fans a chance to win collaboration posters for both films. To enter, participants must submit a photo of their ticket stub or a screenshot of their entry QR code for Walpurgis no Kaiten, together with a Movic advance ticket for Mahoutsukai no Yoru.
