About Kimetsu no Yaiba
Kimetsu no Yaiba is an anime adaptation of the manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, published under Shueisha’s Jump Comics label across a complete run of 23 volumes with cumulative print figures exceeding 220 million copies. The story follows Kamado Tanjiro, a boy whose family is slaughtered by demons, as he joins the Demon Slayer Corps in hopes of finding a cure for his sister Nezuko, who has been turned into a demon.
Animation is produced by ufotable, with the series launching in April 2019. The franchise has since expanded into multiple seasons and films. The latest theatrical entry, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen-jo Arc — Chapter 1: Akaza Returns — the first part of a planned trilogy — opened in July 2025 and recorded an audience of over 27.45 million viewers and a box-office gross of approximately 40.2 billion yen over 266 days, making it the second-highest-grossing film of all time in Japan, behind only the earlier Mugen Train film. A rebroadcast of the full TV series is also currently airing.
