Four new behind-the-scenes stills from the upcoming live-action film WanDance have been released, offering a closer look at the bond forming between its two leads. The production has also announced a Dance Challenge campaign to build excitement ahead of the film’s premiere.
Story & New Scene Photos
WanDance is adapted from the manga of the same name by Coffee (珈琲), serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon. The story follows Cabo, a boy who suppresses his emotions due to a stutter, until he encounters Wanda — a girl who loses herself completely in dance without caring what anyone thinks. As Cabo is drawn into the world of dance, the two develop a one-of-a-kind relationship that goes beyond simple romance.
The newly released stills capture moments of Cabo and Wanda growing closer through dance, as well as scenes featuring Cabo alongside his fierce rival, Kabe.
Dance Challenge Project
Driven by a desire to “share the joy of dance,” the production has launched a Dance Challenge initiative. Miura Runa, who supervised the dance performance for Cabo’s character, choreographed a short routine set to the film’s song “Step by Step feat. Sagiri Sól, Fujita Oria” by mabanua.
All six lead cast members will take on the challenge in turn:
- JO (&TEAM) as Cabo / Kotani Hanaki
- Ikehata Anju as Wanda / Wanda Mitsuri
- Yamaguchi Kira (Girls²) as Miyao Megumi
- RAN (MAZZEL) as Itsukishima Iori
- TSUKKI as Kabe / Kabeya Gaku
- Takamatsu Aroha (超特急) as Usen / Takumi Uchi
Videos will be posted daily starting October 22 on the film’s official TikTok and Instagram accounts. JO’s challenge video was the first to go live, released at 6:00 PM on the same day.
