ABEMA has revealed the three works selected from the inaugural open call of Project PRISMation, a collaborative initiative launched in December 2025 to co-produce original anime with independent creators working alone or in small teams. Short-form pilot versions of all three projects will be released sequentially from 2027 onward.

About Project PRISMation

Project PRISMation pairs ABEMA with individual or small-team animators to develop original anime pilot films. Beyond covering production costs, ABEMA provides comprehensive support including project development, Japanese and English voice-actor casting, sound and music arrangement, translation, promotion, and commercial development — with the goal of bringing each work to a global audience.

The first open call ran from May through August, inviting submissions of pilot concepts alongside longer-term development plans. After a formal judging process, three projects were selected.

The Three Selected Projects

OXY-HEAVEN — by Waboku

A steampunk fantasy ensemble drama set in a café tucked away in a corner of a vast ship-nation rebuilding after war. A former doctor who runs the café uses a single cup of coffee — and a generous dose of meddling — to mend the wounded hearts of those who wander in.

Judges praised the richness of the world-building, the stylishness of the characters and setting, and the project’s strong originality. Waboku, widely known for music video work, noted that this marks his first independently conceived animation project in over a decade — an idea he has been quietly developing since around 2015.

“OXY-HEAVEN is a project I’ve been building piece by piece for years. Some familiar faces might even appear. It’s still a long way off, but please look forward to it.” — Waboku

Amneka — by orange

A fantasy comedy set in a remote little school where six students and one teacher live together. A girl named Amneka, who simply wants a peaceful life, harbors a secret she herself doesn’t know — and that secret is slowly beginning to unsettle everyone’s everyday routine.

Judges described the project as “sharp and unlike anything else,” highlighting the contrast between its cute visuals and the unsettling undercurrent beneath, as well as the exceptional completeness of the pitch document, which covered characters, image boards, plot, and future development plans in full.

“I’m still very much learning as a creator, but I’ll give everything I have. I want to deliver another world — cute yet fleeting — for everyone to enjoy.” — orange

Kandy-Killers for Hire — by koilccc (Dominique Garrow)

A psycho-pop dark comedy from American illustrator and animator Dominique Garrow. In a world where murder has been fully commercialized, assassin Kandie faces the collapse of her assassination start-up and drags her best friends Poppy and Gumi into a blood-soaked marketing campaign to save the business.

Judges were particularly won over by the charisma and individuality of the characters, the strength of the visual design, and the carefully constructed relationships between the cast. Garrow is also the youngest creator to be selected in this round.

“I feel so lucky to have been given an opportunity I thought I could only dream of. I hope everyone enjoys the sweet, twisted, blood-soaked world of Kandy-Killers for Hire at least half as much as I do!” — koilccc (Dominique Garrow)

What Comes Next

ABEMA will now begin production on all three pilots alongside their respective creators. With full logistical and promotional backing from ABEMA, the projects are aimed at reaching audiences both in Japan and internationally. All three pilot episodes are scheduled to roll out from 2027 onward.
