The production team behind the TV anime 「幻想水滸伝」(Genso Suikoden) has released official preview images and a synopsis for the series’ first episode.
Episode 1 Synopsis: “Hometown”
The opening episode follows Riou and his best friend Jowy, young soldiers serving in the Highland Kingdom’s youth brigade, who are ambushed without warning in a mountain forest during an expedition. Forced to flee, the two leap into a waterfall under cover of night.
Riou awakens inside a mercenary fortress belonging to the enemy City-State Alliance, where he is put to work as a prisoner of war. As he labors within the fortress walls, he begins to suspect that the ambush may have been a trap set by the Highland Army itself. After eventually reuniting with Jowy, who has also drifted into enemy territory, the two resolve to return to their hometown of Caro to uncover the truth behind everything that has happened.
Episode 1 will air in a special 60-minute extended format.

The anime is an adaptation of 「幻想水滸伝II」(Genso Suikoden II), one of the most beloved entries in Konami Digital Entertainment’s long-running Suikoden game series.

The anime begins airing on October 3, 2026 across 32 stations nationwide in Japan, including TOKYO MX, Kansai TV, and BS Asahi. Key timeslots are as follows:
- TOKYO MX: Every Saturday at 23:30 (premiere at 20:00), from October 3, 2026
- Kansai TV: Every Tuesday at 25:19 (premiere at 25:34), from October 6, 2026
- BS Asahi: Every Friday at 23:30, from October 9, 2026
- Over 29 additional regional stations begin broadcasting from October 6, 2026
