The TV anime Yani Neko (ヤニねこ), adapted from the manga by Nyannyan Factory serialized in Kodansha’s Young Magazine, has released the synopsis, advance stills, and a preview video for its first episode.
Episode 1: “Nyaa ga Yani Neko nya”
The series follows the daily life of Yani Neko, a beast-person with an undying love for cigarettes, alcohol, and laziness. In the premiere episode, the heavy-of-the-heavy smokers is shown picking up a cigarette butt off the ground, suffering withdrawal symptoms mid-part-time shift, and ultimately spending their last bit of money on tobacco. Meanwhile, the landlord is on the verge of exploding in anger — and when Yani Neko’s responsible younger sister Imotoko texts asking for photos of the apartment, the protagonist’s greatest crisis begins. Preview stills include shots of Yani Neko lighting up and the furious landlord.
The official website has also published an interview with Inada Tetsu, the voice actor playing the landlord.
