The TV anime BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War – Kakoutan — the final arc of the BLEACH anime series — has revealed a brand-new form for Kurosaki Ichigo called “Kessa no Ichigo” (血鎖の一護). The form was both character-designed and named personally by original manga creator Kubo Tite. A new visual titled THE STORIES VISUAL – Kessa no Ichigo, depicting Ichigo across his many forms throughout the series, has also been released.
What Is Kessa no Ichigo?
Kessa no Ichigo represents the ultimate evolution of Kurosaki Ichigo, born when he awakens the dormant Hollow blood within himself. Entering a state of partial Hollowification and then releasing his Bankai, Ichigo and his Zanpakuto transform together into this supreme form.
The form is visually defined by two horns reminiscent of a full Hollowification, with chains of reiatsu bursting from his neck, hands, and feet. During his battle against Yhwach — who has absorbed the Soul King — Ichigo in this form manifests power on an entirely new level, surpassing all previous limits in reiatsu, physical capability, and reaction speed.
The scene of Kessa no Ichigo’s debut, from Episode 45 “DEFEND YOU” which aired on August 22, has been made available on the anime’s official YouTube channel.
