Nippon TV’s annual charity broadcast 24-Hour TV 49: Love Saves the Earth is set to air from August 29 to 30, 2026. Ahead of the event, two passionate Detective Conan fans — artist Chanmina and Kyomoto Daiga of boy group SixTONES — sat down with manga creator Aoyama Gosho, who has designed the show’s charity T-shirt for the second consecutive year.

Two Super-Fans Meet Their Hero

Chanmina, appointed this year’s Special Supporter (Charity T-Shirt), has been a devoted Conan fan since her teens — she once said the series is “written into her DNA” — and recently appeared on a Nippon TV special dedicated entirely to the franchise. Kyomoto Daiga, serving as a Charity Partner for the broadcast, holds a Grade 1 certificate in the Detective Conan Examination, widely regarded as one of the hardest fan tests in Japan, cementing his status as a true Conan authority.

When the two finally came face to face with Aoyama, they could barely contain their excitement, nearly screaming with joy. Kyomoto said with an emotional expression, “I’m genuinely moved,” while Chanmina’s eyes lit up as she took in the studio where Conan is born. Together they discovered treasured items throughout the workspace with the keen eyes of dedicated fans.

In a touching moment, Chanmina nervously asked, “I’m so sorry to ask, but would it be okay if I shook your hand?” Aoyama happily agreed. After the handshake, Kyomoto murmured in awe, “That’s the hand of a god…” while Chanmina simply exclaimed, “Everything about this makes me happy.”

The Message Behind the Design

When asked about the concept behind this year’s T-shirt, Aoyama explained: “I wanted the image to convey that even if you’re not connected by blood, everyone is family.” Kyomoto responded warmly, “That kind of thinking is what makes the idea of family so beautiful.” The sentiment aligns perfectly with this year’s broadcast theme: “My Family Story — Who Do You Think Of?”

On why he agreed to design the charity T-shirt for a second straight year, Aoyama said with a gleam in his eye, “Two years in a row — I might be the only one who’s done that, right?” Kyomoto laughed and replied, “I love that mindset! That’s really wonderful.”

The pair also asked Aoyama about his creative routines, his philosophy toward work, and various behind-the-scenes stories from the making of Detective Conan.

Aoyama Picks a T-Shirt Color for Each of Them

At the end of the interview, Aoyama chose a charity T-shirt color to suit each guest. He told Kyomoto, “You’re pink, right? Then pink it is,” prompting a stunned reaction: “That’s my member color! You know that about me!?” For Chanmina, Aoyama went with purple on instinct, and she was visibly moved: “Incredible… he just gets me.”

The tables were then turned, with both guests picking a color for Aoyama, who admitted he usually only wears black. Kyomoto suggested, “It might be too on-the-nose, but your name is Aoyama (青山 = Blue Mountain), so… blue?” Aoyama agreed and chose blue himself. Chanmina went a step further, proposing a creative remix: “Make the collar blue, this part this color, and that part that color…”

The interview closed with Aoyama donning the charity T-shirt and leaving a message for everyone who picks one up: “Wear this shirt and cherish your family.”
