The fall 2026 anime season has arrived with a lineup of more than 70 titles across all genres. Among the most intriguing is Tsuihou Sareta Cheat Fuyo Majutsushi wa Kimama na Second Life wo Ouka Suru. — known by fans as “Chii-Fuyo” — an unconventional isekai banishment series that pairs P.A.WORKS’ signature production quality with an unusually wide emotional range.

Background

The anime is based on the manga adaptation drawn by Gyoumuyou Mochi, serialized in Kodansha’s Gekkan Magazine Kichi, which itself is adapted from a web novel by Mutushima Asa. The manga has built a devoted following for blending adventure, battles, heavy human drama, and chaotic gag comedy into a single densely packed package. Cumulative print copies have surpassed 1.5 million. Notably, original author Mutushima Asa has stated that the novel and manga versions differ by roughly 99%, meaning even readers of the source material can expect a largely fresh experience.

Story

Rain Garland is an enhancement mage capable of granting “Boost Points” to virtually anything — weapons, armor, or everyday objects. When his guild, “King Beast’s Fang,” expels him on the absurd grounds that their equipment is already strong enough, Rain reclaims all the magical power he has ever bestowed. Channeling that enormous energy into a simple copper sword, he accidentally creates a cheat-tier weapon with a +10,000 bonus.

Now a combat-inexperienced mage with the power to turn anything into a cheat weapon, Rain begins a new adventurer’s life. His new guild, “Blue Crystal,” is home to companions carrying deep wounds: an S-rank adventurer who lost her entire party two years ago and can no longer wield a sword, a fighter who lost her sister in the same quest, and a girl raised from birth to be an assassin.

What Makes It Stand Out

The most immediately striking aspect is the unexpected pairing of the isekai-banishment genre with P.A.WORKS — the studio behind SHIROBAKO and Angel Beats! The production has announced it will depict this “unconventional Gekkan Magazine title with overwhelming quality,” setting expectations high on the visual front.

Narratively, the series stands out for its extreme tonal range. Rain is a good-natured protagonist who will help anyone in any situation, yet he is also an oddball who delivers absurd gags even in the middle of serious scenes. The coexistence of highly addictive comedy and genuinely moving human drama is precisely what earns the series its “unconventional” label.

The production structure reflects this dual identity: a dedicated “Gag/Sub-Character Designer” has been appointed alongside the main character designer, allowing the visual style to shift seamlessly between serious and comedic modes — a setup that should generate plenty of shareable clip moments on social media.
