To mark the theatrical debut of Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Kiki Kaikai! Ora no Yokai Vacation, the TV anime Crayon Shin-chan will broadcast a special episode titled “Nanka Yokai? Special!” on August 1.
Two Stories in One Special Broadcast
The special will feature two self-contained stories:
- “Yokai Mansion wo Tanken da zo” (Let’s Explore the Yokai Mansion) — Shinnosuke and friends venture into a haunted yokai mansion. The episode is directed by Masaki Watanabe and written by Yoshiko Nakamura, the same director–writer duo behind the film.
- “Ora wa Kutsushita da zo” (I Am a Sock) — Inspired by a plot point in the movie where Hiroshi becomes a “sock yokai,” Shinnosuke himself turns into the “left sock” and sets off to find the missing “right sock.”
The broadcast will also include a brief preview of actual footage from the upcoming film.
TVer Streaming: Grandpa & Summer Episode Collection
Streaming platform TVer is running a companion feature called “Jiichan & Natsu Episode Tokushuu” (Grandpa & Summer Episode Special), curated around the movie’s storyline of the Nohara family returning to Akita Prefecture. The lineup spotlights episodes featuring Shinnosuke’s grandfathers, Ginnosuke and Yoshiharu.

About the 33rd Crayon Shin-chan Film
Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Kiki Kaikai! Ora no Yokai Vacation is the 33rd entry in the theatrical Crayon Shin-chan series, based on the original manga by Yoshito Usui. The story follows yokai who have escaped from the spirit world and are running amok across Japan — from Akita, where the Nohara family is headed for a homecoming trip, to their everyday hometown of Kasukabe. When the Nohara family stumbles into the yokai realm, they find themselves on a grand adventure through a strange yet strangely nostalgic world.
The film opens nationwide in Japan on July 31, 2026.
