Crunchyroll announced on Thursday that it will stream the television anime adaptation of Takeru Hokazono‘s manga Kagurabachi beginning in April 2027. The simulcast will be available worldwide, excluding Japan, Mainland China, North Korea, and South Korea. The platform also released an English-subtitled teaser trailer alongside the announcement.
The staff additionally revealed that Katsuyuki Konishi will voice Togo Shiba in the series.
Story
Young Chihiro trains under his celebrated swordsmith father, dreaming of one day becoming a great sword-maker himself. The easygoing father and his serious son believe their peaceful days will last forever — until tragedy shatters everything in a moment of bloodshed. From that day forward, Chihiro and his blade exist for one purpose alone: revenge.

Hokazono launched Kagurabachi in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in September 2023. The series has reached 11 compiled volumes in Japan, with the latest released on May 1. The manga has 4 million copies in circulation overall, surpassing 2.2 million copies in circulation as of May 2025.
Viz Media publishes the manga in English both digitally via its Shonen Jump service and in print; the seventh print volume went on sale May 5. Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service also offers the manga digitally in English.
Awards & Recognition
The manga topped the print category at the Next Manga Awards 2024 and has earned nominations at the 70th Shogakukan Manga Awards (December 2024), the 49th Kodansha Manga Awards (April 2025), and the 2025 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards. It also ranked #13 in Da Vinci magazine’s top manga titles of 2025.
