Fans of Dr.STONE have barely had time to dry their tears after the anime series finale aired on June 25, 2026 — because a brand-new anime project, Dr.STONE TERRAFORMING, has officially been announced.
Revealed at STONE FES.2026
The announcement was made at STONE FES.2026, a grand finale event held to celebrate the conclusion of the Dr.STONE anime series. A promotional video was projected on a massive screen at the venue, showing the history of Senku and his friends’ scientific achievements before a sudden storm and lightning bolt tear through the imagery. The PV featured a newly recorded line from Senku — “Sozoru ze, kore wa” (“This is exhilarating!”) — before the title TERRAFORMING appeared on screen.
The new anime adapts the post-finale episode of the same name, which is collected in volume 27 of the original manga and depicts a story set after the events of the main series ending.
About Dr.STONE
Dr.STONE is a manga by Riichiro Inagaki (story) and Boichi (art), serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) since 2017. Set thousands of years after a mysterious phenomenon instantly petrified all of humanity, the series follows Senku Ishigami — a scientifically gifted teenager who awakens in a world where civilization has crumbled — as he sets out to rebuild human society through the power of science.
The anime adaptation launched in July 2019, followed by Season 2 STONE WARS (2021), TV Special Ryusui (2022), Season 3 NEW WORLD (2023), and Season 4 SCIENCE FUTURE, which aired in a split three-cour format from January 2025 before concluding on June 25, 2026. The finale trended at No. 1 on social media, capping nearly seven years of the anime run.
Even after the finale, the franchise has kept momentum going, with STONE FES.2026 and a planned Dr.STONE anime exhibition both confirmed.
