The production team behind fall 2026 anime dreamland has unveiled the synopsis and preview stills for episode 1, titled “Terence,” ahead of its premiere on Saturday, 17 October 2026.
From French Comics to Japanese TV
dreamland is a battle-fantasy anime adapted from the manga by French creator Reno Lemaire. The series has enjoyed a devoted cult following in France for many years, with cumulative sales surpassing 800,000 copies. Lemaire is a self-professed Japan enthusiast, and his original work is steeped in reverence for Japanese manga.
Animation production is handled by acclaimed French studio Ellipse & La Chouette Compagnie, directed by Juan Pablo Machado and Joe Celse. Machado is known for having grown up watching Japanese anime and for incorporating distinctly Japanese animation sensibilities into his work.
The Japanese broadcast features a fully localized version with an all-Japanese voice cast, with sound direction by Kubo Soichiro, audio production by Tohokushinsha, and Japanese localization by Amuse Creative Studio.
Story: When Nightmares Become Power
Ever since losing his mother in a house fire, Terence has been tormented by an overwhelming fear of flames — a fear that follows him even into sleep as recurring nightmares. Then one night, in the middle of a nightmare, Terence suddenly becomes aware that he is dreaming. In that moment of lucidity, he finally conquers his fear.
That awakening marks his emergence as a “Mujin” (Dream Traveller) — someone capable of journeying through the dream world known as Dreamland, a parallel realm born from the dreams and nightmares of humanity. Armed with the power to control fire, Terence sets off on an adventure through Dreamland, carrying with him his feelings of love, friendship, and longing for his late mother.
