The digitally remastered version of the classic SF anime film Genma Taisen (幻魔大戦) will air tonight, November 1, starting at 7:00 p.m. as part of the “Sunday Anime Theater” (日曜アニメ劇場) programming block on BS12 Twellv.
Story
Originally released in theaters in 1983, Genma Taisen is a science-fiction anime based on works by Kazumasa Hirai and Shotaro Ishinomori. The film follows the battle between psychic warriors and the “Genma” — destructive beings bent on invading and annihilating Earth.
Luna, an esper princess from Transylvania, devises a plan to gather psychics from around the world to stand against the Genma, enlisting the help of Froy, a cosmic consciousness entity, and Vega, a cyborg soldier. Meanwhile, Japanese high schooler Jo Azuma awakens to previously unknown psychic powers after being provoked by Vega — only for the Genma to appear before him…
