Synopsis

In the year 2029, Japan has become a society where cybernetic enhancement and direct brain-network connectivity are commonplace. Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body cyborg and commander of an elite squad, seeks to establish a special unit dedicated to preventing crime before it happens.

Home Affairs official Daisuke Aramaki, who shares the same vision, recruits Kusanagi and her team, giving rise to Public Security Section 9 — the “Ghost in the Shell” unit. As they battle cyber-crimes entangled in international intrigue, the trail of one particular case leads them to a mysterious hacker known only as the Puppet Master.
