The Aniplex One Focus livestream event on Saturday unveiled a new trailer for Grotesqqque (formerly titled Grotesque), an original omnibus anime film directed by Atsushi Nishigori. The trailer shines a spotlight on the film’s second story segment, “Yoroshiku★Girl.”

Three Stories, Three Worlds

Grotesqqque weaves together three self-contained stories set in entirely different worlds:

• “A(E)liens”
• “Yoroshiku★Girl” (also known as “4649 Girl,” pronounced “Yoroshiku★Shōjo”) — a wordplay title in which the numbers 4-6-4-9 can be read in Japanese as “Yoroshiku,” meaning “Nice to Meet You.” The kanji used in the title carry the literal meaning “Evening Dew Heads to Its Death★Girl.”
• “Nocturne: Nuit Grotesque” (Japanese title: “Nocturne: Kono Grotesque na Yoru ni,” meaning “Nocturne: On This Grotesque Night”)

Director Atsushi Nishigori, known for The IDOLM@STER and DARLING in the FRANXX, is also handling the screenplay and character designs himself.

The film is produced by JOEN, a joint venture company founded by Sony media subsidiary Aniplex, its animation studio CloverWorks, Production I.G sister company Wit Studio, and publisher Shueisha. CloverWorks producer Yūichi Fukushima and Wit Studio producer Tetsuya Nakatake serve as JOEN’s representative directors.
