August 19 — written 8/19, or “Ha-i-kyu” in Japanese wordplay — is celebrated annually as Haikyuu!! Day, and 2026’s edition proved to be the biggest yet. The official ハイキュー!!.com account on X kicked things off by sharing a hand-drawn illustration from series creator Furudate Haruichi, sending fans into a frenzy from early morning.

Furudate’s Hand-Written Message

The official post read: “It’s Haikyuu!! Day! A hand-drawn illustration from Furudate-sensei has arrived! Let’s make this year’s celebration the best one yet!!” In the illustration, Furudate wrote in his own hand that August 19 marks the release of Sudatte Hinagara-su Vol. 1 by “Retsu-sensei,” which includes a collaboration manga featuring both Hinagara-su and manga-version Hinata. He also announced a streaming event, “HAIKYUU!! RECEPTION,” set for 20:19 JST, promising a wealth of new information. The message was signed “Furudate Haruichi 2026 ☆ 8.19 ☆.”

Fans flooded the replies with excitement: “Happy from the moment I woke up — thank you for the hand-drawn art, can’t wait for the stream!” “Happy Haikyuu!! Day! The illustration is gorgeous, so pumped for the new info!” “It’s here — our festival!” “Another year, another 819.” “Thank you for the original drawing, Furudate-sensei~”

Voice Actor Okamoto Nobuhiko Joins In

Okamoto Nobuhiko, the voice of Nishinoya Yu, also marked the occasion with a post on X: “Today is August 19 — Haikyuu Day.” Fans responded warmly, with comments including “Once-a-year Haikyuu Day!!” “The experience video was amazing — so happy to see Nobuhiko-san’s Rolling Thunder!” “Love Nobu-kun as Noya-san so much!” and “No matter how many times I watch it, it still makes my heart race. Soi Soi Soi!!”
