The stage presentation at Chayamachi Oshi Festival 2026 on Sunday brought exciting news for fans of the Mission: Yozakura Family anime: veteran voice actor Hiroshi Kamiya is joining the second season’s cast as Kai Izumo, Kyoichiro’s best friend and the president of the spy association. The character made his anime debut in episode 38, which aired the same Sunday.
Story
Based on the manga by Hitsuji Gondaira, the series follows Taiyou Asano, a high school student who has struggled to connect with others ever since losing his entire family in a car accident. His childhood friend Mutsumi Yozakura — head of the world’s most powerful spy family — is the one person he can truly open up to. However, Mutsumi’s fiercely overprotective eldest brother, Kyouichirou Yozakura, sets his lethal sights on Taiyou. To survive, Taiyou must marry Mutsumi and join the Yozakura family, embarking on a journey to become a formidable spy while uncovering the dark secrets of both his own past and the Yozakura family.
Broadcast & Streaming
Season 2 premiered on April 12 on MBS, TBS, and 26 affiliated channels during the “Nichigo” Sunday programming block at 5:00 p.m. JST. Hulu streams the season in the United States, while Prime Video and Netflix carry it in Japan.

About the Manga
Gondaira, also known for Demon Prince Poro’s Diaries, launched Mission: Yozakura Family in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in August 2019. The series concluded in January 2025 with a total of 29 compiled volumes, the final one published in March 2025.
Viz Media has been simultaneously publishing the manga in English digitally since its Japanese debut, with compiled digital volumes available from December 2020 and physical volumes from October 2022. The series is also available for free in English via Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service. The franchise additionally includes several novels.
