The official X/Twitter account for the original television anime Inherit the Winds (Japanese title: Kaze wo Tsugumono) announced on Wednesday that voice actor Ryōhei Kimura has been cast as Nagakura Shinpachi, a character based on a historical Japanese figure.

Synopsis
Set during the Bakumatsu era in Kyoto, the story follows an amnesiac soldier who is taken in by the renowned Shinsengumi member Okita Sōji. Okita gives the man the name “Tachikawa Jinsuke,” and Jinsuke begins a new life among the warriors of Mibu.

Four-Panel Manga Adaptation
A four-panel manga adaptation drawn by Matsuri Muramatsu is set to launch in 2026 on the Twi4 (read “Tsuiyon”) X account operated by Star Seas Company.
Original story writer Yutaka Narui is a playwright and the founder of theatrical troupe Caramel Box, known for numerous stage productions centered on the Shinsengumi. While one of his plays shares the title Kaze wo Tsugumono, the two works differ in how the title is written — the play uses kanji for “mono,” whereas the anime uses hiragana — and the anime is officially classified as an original work.
