Recommended Services

U-NEXT is the standout choice for viewers who want to pair Dandevine with a broad library of classic and new mecha anime. Its 31-day free trial and 500-yen welcome points (usable on new-release rentals) make it easy to try risk-free. After the trial, the service costs ¥2,189/month and awards 1,200 points monthly.

For viewers who want episodes as fast as possible, d Anime Store is the only service confirmed for a simulcast, streaming each new episode at the same time as the TOKYO MX broadcast — every Wednesday at 24:30 JST — for just ¥660/month.

Story & Highlights

Twenty years have passed since the giant combining robot Dandevine repelled the mysterious enemy force known as the Aposdoll. Once hailed as humanity’s guardian, Dandevine has since been reduced to a nostalgic toy brand, and the company that built its legacy — toy manufacturer Kasuga — is struggling financially.

When a trio of mysterious sisters revives the Aposdoll threat in Tokyo, ordinary high-school student Shizuka Gekijin — grandson of Kasuga’s president — is recruited by his uncle Kuroiwa Yusaku, the robot’s former main pilot, and finds himself in Dandevine’s cockpit.

The series blends the spectacle of Dandevine’s “Beast-God Combination” (獣神合体) — in which Dande Ace merges with three Divine Beast units — with the grounded drama of a toy company’s comeback bid. Gekijin’s personal life adds another layer: in Episode 2, his girlfriend Kuzumi Akane abruptly breaks up with him even as a new Aposdoll attack looms, forcing him to juggle romance and robot combat simultaneously.
