Manga Kingdom by Yasuhisa Hara is marking its 20th anniversary with a special event titled “Kinkinkingdom”, running at SHIBUYA TSUTAYA 1F in Tokyo from August 4 to August 11, 2026. Admission is free.
A Cool Spot for a Blazing Summer
The event’s concept is a “Sengoku cool spot” dropped into the heart of Shibuya during the peak of summer. The timing is notable: in 2026, Japan’s Meteorological Agency introduced a new category called kokusha-bi (extreme heat day) for days exceeding 40°C. Against that backdrop, the organizers wanted fans to “enjoy the blazing story of Kingdom in a refreshingly cool space.”
Series creator Yasuhisa Hara commented:
“In this scorching summer marking the 20th serialization anniversary and the release of the fifth film, a Kingdom event is opening right in the middle of Shibuya! There are elaborate decorations and sculptures, plus replica original artworks from volume 40 onwards that couldn’t be shown at the previous Kingdom Exhibition. Whether you’re a longtime reader or new to the series, this is a space for everyone — please come cool off in the hot world of Kingdom!”
Event Highlights
Kinkin Furin Corridor (Wind-Chime Walkway)
Visitors pass through an entrance decorated with Kingdom characters and enter a corridor lined with over 100 wind chimes, each bearing iconic quotes and memorable lines from across the manga’s 20-year run. The gentle ringing adds to the cool, refreshing atmosphere.
Life-Size Wang Qi Spear — Pick It Up!
The centerpiece of the event is a faithful, life-size replica of Wang Qi’s spear (王騎の矛) — the weapon inherited by protagonist Xin. Standing roughly 2 meters tall and weighing 18 kg, visitors can actually lift the spear and feel its true scale, then snap a commemorative photo in front of the giant 20th-anniversary logo.
Replica Original Art Gallery
A curated selection of 40 replica original artworks spanning the manga’s entire run is on display, showcasing powerful battle scenes and finely detailed character expressions. Several pieces are on public display for the first time, including a replica of Man Goku (万極), the Zhao general who appears in the currently screening live-action film Kingdom: Soul of the Battle, originally published in Weekly Young Jump Issue 24, 2026.
Free “Kinkin Item Gasshokugun” Gifts for Visitors
Every visitor receives a complimentary cooling item from Sea Breeze, Biore, or Gatsby, packaged in a special vinyl bag with a Kingdom-exclusive sticker design. The daily lineup is as follows:
- Aug. 4–6: Gatsby Body Paper
- Aug. 7–8: Biore Cool Towel
- Aug. 9–11: Sea Breeze Ice Towel (one sachet per person)
All items carry a special Kingdom sticker design and are non-commercial keepsakes. Distribution is first-come, first-served while supplies last.
20th-Anniversary Merchandise & More
The venue also sells a range of 20th-anniversary goods, including clear files, diorama figures, Wang Qi acrylic magnet collections, T-shirts, and replica manuscripts. Most items will remain available for purchase after the event ends. Additional features include exclusive photo spots and a specially produced video chronicling Kingdom’s 20-year history.
