The live-action drama series 「恋愛ルビの正しいふりかた Season 2」 (Koi Ruby Season 2) has released its second main visual and announced three additional cast members: Komiyama Risa, Bando Takumi, and Sakaguchi Tamami.

Second Main Visual

The new key visual captures Hiro and Natsuki in a relaxed, everyday moment inside a traditional Japanese house (古民家), which serves as the central setting for Season 2. Themed around “the daily life of the two,” the image was personally shot by director Sato Yasuki. Additional alternate-cut photos are set to be released soon.

Story

Season 2 picks up one year after Hiro and Natsuki began their relationship in Season 1. When an unexpected incident occurs at Hiro’s home, he ends up moving in with Natsuki. Against a backdrop of everyday happiness, the story explores the new feelings blossoming between them and the major life choices each must face. The series is based on the manga by Ogeretsu Tanaka and expands upon it with an original story — including spinoff elements from the source material — developed under the author’s supervision.

New Cast

• Komiyama Risa as Oda Maki — a student at the beauty school where Hiro teaches; a lone wolf who doesn’t fit in with those around her, she carries a past that forced her to give up modeling.
• Bando Takumi as Hiiragi Kyosuke — a mysterious man who appears before the two protagonists.
• Sakaguchi Tamami as Inui Mari — the vice homeroom teacher at the same beauty school as Hiro.

Returning from Season 1 are Asahi Nanami as Shiina Aoi (Hiro’s former colleague at the salon), Emori Saya as salon manager Kaga Reina, and Myoraku Tetsunori as Gondo Hajime, the foreman at the construction site where Natsuki works.

Cast Comments

Komiyama Risa (Oda Maki)

I was nervous joining from Season 2, but the warm atmosphere on set made filming genuinely enjoyable. Maki looks strong on the surface, but I tried to convey the sensitivity hidden beneath. I hope viewers will watch how she changes as she grows closer to Hiro-sensei.

Bando Takumi (Hiiragi Kyosuke)

Hiiragi is the kind of person who watches over others as they find their own answers. Playing him made me feel that even a casual word or a small encounter can push someone forward. I hope everyone enjoys the warm interactions on screen.

Sakaguchi Tamami (Inui Mari)

The warm atmosphere created by the director, Iwahashi-san, and the whole cast made filming a joy. I hope to be a presence that helps convey even more of Hiro’s charm to the audience, and I’d love for viewers to enjoy the vice-homeroom-teacher side of Mari as well.

Asahi Nanami (Shiina Aoi)

I’m so happy to be back. My involvement in Season 2 takes a different shape from Season 1, and I hope everyone enjoys the deeper story between Hiro and Natsuki.

Emori Saya (Kaga Reina)

I’ve been waiting so long for Koi Ruby Season 2! I’m thrilled to return as salon manager Kaga Reina. I also supervised the hairdressing choreography again this season, so please keep an eye on Hiro’s elegant scissor work.

Myoraku Tetsunori (Gondo Hajime)

Thank you for your patience — Season 2 is here! As foreman Gondo, I spend a lot of time with Natsuki and do a lot of listening to his troubles. Filming was warm and collaborative, even if it meant hauling heavy things around again. I’m curious myself, as the foreman, to see what Natsuki is thinking and worrying about.
