MAG Garden released volume 1 of Koukyuu Gekidan ~Hoshi Furu Kyuutei no Utahime~ THE COMIC (後宮歌劇団～星降る宮廷の歌姫～ THE COMIC) on July 15, 2026. The manga is a comic adaptation of the light novel by Kobayakawa Mahiro, illustrated by Imono Shiru.
Story
A palace lady named Tsai (蔡), sent as a spy from a neighboring country into the kingdom of Souun, is tasked with uncovering the truth about an empress rumored to possess an extraordinarily beautiful singing voice. Days pass without a single lead on the empress herself — instead, all she hears about is Shaoyu (赦鶯), a strikingly handsome male-role performer in the all-female opera troupe known as the Koukyuu Gekidan (Rear Palace Opera Company).
Then one day, Tsai discovers a stunning secret: the empress and Shaoyu are one and the same person. The story then unfolds in reverse, tracing how Shaoyu — born a commoner — managed to rise all the way to the throne as empress, set against the glamorous and intrigue-filled backdrop of the imperial court.
