The Hollywood live-action adaptation of Capcom’s iconic fighting game series, Street Fighter / The Movie, is set for a simultaneous worldwide release on October 16, 2026. In a surprise announcement, popular Nijisanji VTuber Kuzuha has been revealed as part of the Japanese dub cast — marking his very first foray into film voice acting.
A Franchise With 60 Million Copies Sold
The Street Fighter series launched in arcades in 1987, but it was Street Fighter II in 1991 that revolutionized competitive gaming with its innovative versus system, turning the franchise into a global phenomenon. The series has since sold over 60 million copies worldwide and remains a cornerstone of competitive esports. The latest entry, Street Fighter 6 (2023), has sold 7.2 million copies globally as of June 30, 2026.
Announced at Tokyo Game Show 2026
The news broke during a special stage event for the film at Tokyo Game Show 2026, held at Makuhari Messe. Joining the stage were returning Japanese voice cast members Takahashi Hiroki (Ryu), Kishi Yuji (Ken), and Orikasa Fumiko (Chun-Li), alongside Street Fighter 6 Game Director and film producer Nakayama Takayuki. The event featured the premiere of the official Japanese-language trailer, with Kuzuha’s casting revealed as the headline surprise.
Kuzuha as Interpol Agent Marvin
A well-known Street Fighter 6 enthusiast who has organized his own gaming events, Kuzuha will voice Marvin, an Interpol intelligence agent described as having a distinctly quirky personality.
Reacting to the offer, Kuzuha said: “When I first heard about it, I was like, ‘Wait, seriously? Is it really okay for it to be me?’ I was genuinely shocked.” On the recording experience, he added: “I was pretty nervous, but it felt incredibly fresh — it was a really valuable and wonderful experience.”
He described Marvin as “a character with a really distinctive, interesting personality” and encouraged fans to enjoy not only the intense Street Fighter-style battles but also the interactions between the various characters.
