The production team behind the second season of the Marriage Toxin TV anime — based on the manga by Jōmyaku and artist Mizuki Yoda — unveiled a promotional video and key visual on Tuesday. The season is confirmed to premiere in 2027.
Full Returning Staff
Season 2 will bring back the entire creative team from the first season. Motonobu Hori (Carole & Tuesday) returns to direct at Bones Film, with production supervision by BONES. Kimiko Ueno (Astro Note) is once again writing and overseeing the series scripts. Music composition duties are shared by Taisei Iwasaki (BELLE) and Yuma Yamaguchi (Metallic Rouge), while Kōhei Tokuoka (The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity) serves as chief animation director and character designer.
Season 1 Currently Airing
The first season launched on April 7, airing on Kansai TV and Fuji TV as part of the new Tuesday-night programming block “Ka-Anival!!” Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs in Japan.
Story Synopsis
For centuries, the deadly arts have been perfected by those known as the Masters. Among them, the Poison Masters of the Five Great Families hold the most fearsome power and influence. Hikaru Gero, heir to the Gero Family, has spent his entire life in the underworld, far removed from love or marriage.
When the Gero Family head decrees that Hikaru’s sister must bear an heir to preserve the bloodline — by force if necessary — Hikaru vows to protect her at any cost. His path then crosses with Mei Kinosaki, a brilliant marriage swindler who happens to be the target of his latest job. Realizing that marriage may be the only solution to both his family’s succession crisis and his sister’s safety, Hikaru impulsively enlists Mei’s help in finding him a bride.

And so, with the cunning Mei as his advisor, elite assassin Hikaru sets out on the most challenging mission of his life — finding a wife. Together, this unlikely duo takes on the world’s toughest mission for love.

About the Manga
Jōmyaku and Mizuki Yoda launched the Marriage Toxin manga on the Shonen Jump+ app in April 2022. Shueisha published the manga’s 18th compiled volume on July 3. Viz Media holds the English-language license, and the manga is also available in English on Shueisha’s MANGA Plus app.
