Hakuhodo DY Music & Pictures has announced full details for the television anime adaptation of Fire head‘s light novel series Mercedes and the Waning Moon: The Dungeoneering Feats of a Discarded Vampire Aristocrat (Japanese title: Kaketa Tsuki no Mercedes: Kyūketsuki no Kizoku ni Tensei Shita kedo Suteraresō nanode Dungeon wo Seiha suru). The announcement includes the series’ TV format, its first promotional video, a teaser visual, the main cast member, key staff, and a January 2027 premiere window.

Story
Reincarnated as a vampire born to a noble father and his shunned concubine, Mercedes Grunewald has always known she will not be chosen as her father’s heir. Faced with the prospect of her family — a skill-less mother and an elderly maid — being cast out on their own, Mercedes turns to the one option available to anyone, even a small child: dungeon crawling.
She begins training from kindergarten age, and her vampire heritage gives her the potential to grow exceptionally strong. Having died unfulfilled in her previous life, Mercedes is determined that this time she will find something to make her waning moon full once more.

Fire head originally serialized the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website beginning in 2018. TO Books began publishing the light novel series with illustrations by KeG in 2021; the fifth volume was released digitally alongside this announcement. J-Novel Club publishes the series digitally in English.
A manga adaptation by Pochi Edoya, which launched on TO Books’ Comic Corona (now Corona EX) website in 2021, also released its sixth compiled volume at the same time.
