About Nihon Sankoku
Nihon Sankoku is a manga by Matsuki Ikka, serialized on Shogakukan’s manga app “Manga ONE” and the web comic site “Ura Sunday.” The story is set in a near-future Japan where nuclear war, natural disasters, and corrupt governance have triggered a revolution and the collapse of civilization. The country has fractured into three rival kingdoms locked in a struggle for supremacy. At the center of it all is Misuma Aoki, an unremarkable local bureaucrat who rises through the ranks using his vast knowledge and sharp tongue in pursuit of a reunified Japan.
The TV anime adaptation began airing in April 2026, directed by Terasawa Kazuaki and produced by Studio Kafka. The cast includes Ono Kensho as Misuma Aoki, Fukuyama Jun as Asama Yoshitsune, Seto Asami as Higashimachi Koki, and Han Megumi as narrator. A sequel has already been greenlit.
