A brand-new entry in the ONE PIECE Paper Knife series has arrived: the Griffon Model, recreating the beloved sword of Shanks as a fully functional Japanese-style paper knife. Pre-orders opened on 6 July 2026, with general retail following on 3 August 2026.
A Franchise of Record-Breaking Scale
Written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda, ONE PIECE began serialisation in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 34 on 22 July 1997 and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022. As of 4 March 2026, the manga’s worldwide cumulative print run has surpassed 600 million copies — over 450 million in Japan and more than 150 million overseas.
The TV anime has aired on Fuji TV since 1999, marking its own 25th anniversary in 2024. The Elbaf Arc began broadcasting on 5 April 2026, while the Netflix live-action series launched Season 2 on 10 March 2026.
Griffon Joins the Paper Knife Lineup
The ONE PIECE Paper Knife series debuted in 2018 with four designs based on the swords of Roronoa Zoro and Trafalgar Law. Responding to persistent fan demand, the manufacturer has now added a fifth entry: a Japanese-sword-style paper knife inspired by Shanks’ Griffon.
Every detail has been faithfully reproduced — from the hamon (blade pattern) to the shape of the tsuba (hand guard) and saya (scabbard). Each knife is individually sharpened by hand by craftsmen in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan’s renowned blade-making capital, giving it a clean, satisfying cut through envelopes. A display stand is included so the piece can be showcased as décor when not in use.
