Quarterly S (季刊エス) issue 95, published by Pie International, went on sale on September 16. The issue’s centerpiece is a major feature dedicated to manga artist Hayashida Q, the creator behind Dorohedoro and Dai Dark.
Cover and Creative Process
The cover showcases a newly drawn illustration by Hayashida Q herself, featuring Nikaido from Dorohedoro alongside Shimada = Death from Dai Dark. Inside, the feature traces the full creation of the cover artwork — from initial rough sketches through penciling, inking, and coloring — with commentary from the artist at each stage, including details on the art materials she uses.
An accompanying interview explores Hayashida Q’s working philosophy, particularly her practice of drawing every background, landscape, and prop in her manga entirely by herself. Readers can also enter a lottery to win a hand-signed color shikishi board from the artist.

The issue also features an interview with Hayashi Yuichiro, the director of the Dorohedoro Season 2 anime.

To mark the theatrical release of Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten, the issue includes a dedicated special section featuring:
