Story

On rainy days, Hina dreams of her younger self playing with a mysterious boy in a garden she has never seen — until she stumbles upon the very place by chance. There she meets a young man named Takaaki, who mistakes her for his fiancée Hinako. He brings her to what he believes is her home, where a doppelgänger of Hina is already waiting, and Hina soon realizes she has not simply wandered into an unfamiliar part of Tokyo — she has somehow arrived in Japan in the year 1907. Is it all a dream, or something far stranger?

About the Manga

Kawachi launched the manga in Kodansha‘s Kiss magazine in 2014. It concluded in November 2025, and the 14th and final compiled volume shipped on February 13. A spinoff manga, Namidaame to Serenade: Gaiden (Rainy Day Serenade Side Story), began serialization in Kiss on November 25.

Kodansha USA Publishing holds the English-language license and plans to release the manga in two-in-one omnibus volumes beginning in fall 2026.

Kawachi is also known for Natsuyuki Rendezvous, which received an anime adaptation on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block in 2012.
