Amuse Creative Studio officially announced on Wednesday that it is developing an anime adaptation of Re:bel Robotica, the mixed-media project created by artist Mika Pikazo. The studio will unveil teaser footage and further details at a panel during Anime Expo on July 4, and will also maintain a booth at the convention. Pikazo drew a new teaser visual specifically for the anime announcement.
Story Setting
Amuse Creative Studio describes the world of the anime as one built around Robotica — machines crafted in the very likeness of humankind, created to serve humanity and bring happiness to people’s lives. The story is set in 2050, in a near-future Tokyo where sweeping advances in information technology have promised every citizen a comfortable and contented life. In the heart of Shibuya, a mysterious girl named Lily appears — and her very existence will shake the world. The anime will tell an original story set within the broader Re:bel Robotica universe.
Project History
Mika Pikazo launched Re:bel Robotica as a self-published dōjin work distributed at the summer Comiket in 2017. Publishing company ARCH began collaborating with Pikazo to expand the project in 2019.
Ryō Yoshigami (Psycho-Pass 3: First Inspector, Dopeman, Ryū to Itsuki) serialized the novel Re:bel Robotica Episode #β One day. on the project’s website from January to May 2020, and later wrote the light novel Re:bel Robotica 0, which launched in September 2022. That same month, Gakuto Mikumo (Strike the Blood, Asura Cryin’, Dantalian no Shoka, The Hollow Regalia, Sword of Stallion) released a separate novel simply titled Re:bel Robotica.
