Mangaka Iso Eight (磯エイト) debuted a new one-shot manga titled Sassa to Sekai Sukui ni Ikeya (さっさとセカイ救いにいけや) on Shonen Jump+ on October 10.
An RPG World Seen Through a Monster’s Eyes
The work is described as a meta-fantasy set entirely within the world of an RPG video game. The protagonist is Gurado (グラド), a dragon-clan monster boasting a powerful physique and a massive battle-axe. Gurado has always dreamed of facing a legendary hero party wielding the game’s ultimate weapons — a climactic, end-of-story showdown worthy of his strength.
Reality, however, has other plans. Gurado is assigned to patrol the area around the very first town in the game, tasked with playing the role of an 「初見殺し」 (shoken goroshi) — an unreasonably powerful early-game enemy designed to catch unsuspecting newcomers off guard. Day after day of ambushing hapless beginners has left him thoroughly fed up with his lot in life.
A Surprisingly Dedicated Hero Changes Everything
Everything shifts when a new hero enters his territory — not a clueless first-timer, but an obsessive hardcore grinder (やりこみ勢) who has trained far beyond what anyone would expect at that stage of the game. The encounter stirs something deep within Gurado, awakening feelings that go well beyond the mission he was assigned, and forcing him to reconsider what his existence in this RPG world truly means.
