The production team behind Tempal ~The Power of Items~, the television anime adaptation of South Korean webtoon studio REDICE STUDIO’s Overgeared, unveiled the series’ first key visual, first promotional video, and additional cast members over the weekend. Crunchyroll debuted the promo at Anime Expo and confirmed it will stream the series.
New Cast Members
The newly announced voice cast includes:
- Saya Fukuzumi as Euphemina
- Shuntaro Takayama as Huroi
Previously announced cast members include Tatsumaru Tachibana as protagonist Grid and Asami Seto as Yura.
Staff
The anime is being produced at J.C. Staff with EGG FIRM as producer. Ayako Kōno, known for directing Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night and Sword Art Online The Movie – Progressive: Scherzo of Deep Night, is helming the series. Kenta Ihara — whose credits include Saga of Tanya the Evil, Uncle From Another World, and Blue Miburo — is handling series scripts, while another Kenta Ihara (of Demon Lord 2099 and I Want to End This Love Game) is designing the characters. Yoshikazu Iwanami serves as sound director, Yoshiaki Fujisawa is composing the score, and Pony Canyon handles music production.
Story
Youngwoo Shin is a deadbeat in real life — scraping by on odd jobs and drowning in debt, dismissed by his own family as a hopeless gaming addict. In the massively popular VR game Satisfy, he plays as Grid the Warrior… who is equally unremarkable. Everything changes when he discovers a tome holding the lost secrets of a legendary blacksmith. The catch: using it wipes all his levels. Forced back to square one, Grid must sharpen his skills and build alliances — or simply rely on god-tier gear to carry him through.
Source Material & Publishing
The webtoon is based on a web novel by Park Saenal, with Dong-Wook Lee writing the webtoon script and Team Argo handling the artwork. Yen Press publishes the English edition under its Ize Press imprint — the 10th volume released on May 19 — and the series is also available digitally on Tapas.
Tempal ~The Power of Items~ is scheduled to premiere in October.
