The team behind the second season of the Witch Hat Atelier television anime — based on Kamome Shirahama‘s manga — unveiled a teaser video on Saturday. The clip made its world premiere at Anime Expo the day before.
Staff
Ayumu Watanabe (Ace Attorney, Doraemon films) directed the first season at studio BUG FILMS, with Hiroaki Kojima (animation producer on Komi Can’t Communicate) serving as producer. Kairi Unabara (Pokémon Evolutions) handled character design and chief animation direction, while Yuka Kitamura (Elden Ring) composed the score.

Theme Songs (Season 1)
Eve and suis performed the opening theme “Kaze no Anthem feat. suis from yorushika”. Nakamura Hak performed the three ending themes: “Tada Utsukushii no Noroi”, “Yoru ni Ukabu”, and “Hikari”.
Broadcast & Streaming
The first season premiered on April 6 on Tokyo MX and other channels. Crunchyroll simulcast the series and also provided an English dub.
About the Manga
Shirahama launched the manga in Kodansha’s Morning two magazine in July 2016. The 16th compiled volume was released on April 23. Kodansha USA Publishing has been releasing the English edition since April 2019.
The series earned a nomination for Best Comic at the Angoulême International Comics Festival in January 2019, and was also nominated for the 11th Manga Taisho awards in 2018. It ranked in the top 10 for male readers in Takarajimasha’s Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2018 edition, and appeared on the YALSA Top Ten Great Graphic Novels for Teens list in 2020.
The manga took home Best Manga at the Harvey Awards twice — in October 2020 and again in 2025 — and currently has 7 million copies in circulation worldwide.
