The summer 2026 TV anime Yani Neko (ヤニねこ) has released the synopsis and advance scene cuts for Episode 3, “Nyaa wa Boke yori Tsukkomi Yori nya”, set to air on Thursday, July 16, 2026 on TOKYO MX, BS11, and AT-X.
About Yani Neko
Yani Neko is adapted from the manga by Nyannyan Factory, serialized in Kodansha’s Young Magazine. The comedy follows the smoke-filled daily lives of a group of irredeemably lazy cat beastmen — no money, no work ethic, and no manners to speak of. Set in a world where humans and beastmen coexist, the Yani Neko (literally “nicotine-stained cats”) spend their days smoking, loafing, and chatting, yet somehow manage to seem content. The manga went viral on social media — described as “pretty filthy, but just a little bit encouraging” — and has now made the unlikely leap to TV anime.
Episode 3 Synopsis
Yani Neko joins some kids for a game of soccer in the park, only to be reported to the authorities as a suspicious individual — which, fair enough. Back at the apartment, the landlord is furious as usual, lecturing her and demanding she quit smoking. Not that any of it sinks in.
She ends up pulling weeds in lieu of rent, but her eyes keep drifting toward the landlord’s cabbage patch… With or without cigarettes, leaving Yani Neko to her own devices never ends well. That’s the lesson this week — more or less.
