The production committee behind the Zombie Land Saga film series and Saga City, Saga Prefecture have announced the signing of an official partnership agreement (連携協定). Voice actress Hondo Kaede, who plays protagonist Minamoto Sakura, attended the announcement ceremony as a special guest alongside Saga City Mayor Sakai Hidetaka.
Remarks from the Ceremony
Mayor Sakai commented at the event: “I am truly delighted that we have been able to conclude this partnership agreement with the Zombie Land Saga film production committee. Through this series, people across Japan have had the chance to discover the appeal of Saga. We hope this agreement will serve as a springboard for even more diverse initiatives going forward, and that the series will become an even more familiar presence for the people who live here in Saga.”
Hondo Kaede noted that she has visited Saga Prefecture approximately 15 times since the TV anime first aired in 2018, saying: “Saga holds so many precious memories for me. I am truly grateful to be able to deepen our bond with this place once again through a formal partnership agreement.” She also reflected on the series’ journey, adding: “It is by no means a given that an original anime can grow from a TV series all the way to a theatrical film. The fact that we have come this far is entirely thanks to the warm support the people of Saga have given this work. Through this partnership, I hope we can expand our efforts beyond the boundaries of the series itself and share the appeal of Saga with even more people.”
About Zombie Land Saga
Zombie Land Saga follows girls from different eras who are resurrected as zombies and assembled by the mysterious producer Tatsumi Koutarou to form the local idol group Franchouchou, with the goal of saving Saga Prefecture. Season 1 aired in 2018, Season 2 in 2021, and the theatrical film Zombie Land Saga: Yumeginga Paradise was released in October 2025.
2027 Live Event at SAGA Arena
Building on the newly signed partnership, a major live event titled Zombie Land Saga 2027 in SAGA Arena (provisional title) has been announced for April 24–25, 2027 at the SAGAアリーナ in Saga Prefecture. The organizers plan to roll out promotional activities highlighting Saga City’s charms and other measures in the lead-up to the event.
