The production team behind TV anime Kimi no Koto ga Daidaidaidaidaisuki na 100-nin no Kanojo (100 Kanojo) Season 3 has announced a new cast member: veteran voice actress Rie Kugimiya will voice Yakuzen Yaku, one of Rentaro’s girlfriends.
Who Is Yakuzen Yaku?
Yaku is both one of Rentaro’s girlfriends and the grandmother of Kusuri (Yakuzen Kusuri). Despite being 89 years old, a failed “immortality elixir” has left her with the physical appearance of an 8-year-old — the same as Kusuri. She struggles to keep up with modern trends and has a particular aversion to foreign loanwords. Her extraordinary lifespan has given her unmatched life experience within the family, and she carries a mysterious side, keeping certain secrets from her past firmly under wraps.
Kugimiya’s Comment
“I’m Rie Kugimiya, voicing Yakuzen Yaku. Although she looks young, she is very much a composed, mature woman who radiates warmth, acceptance, and a sense of security. I approached the role with a gentle heart, and I hope everyone enjoys her. Thank you so much!”
New Visuals and Campaign
Alongside the casting announcement, the main key visual has been updated to include Yaku. A new heroine visual has also been released, depicting Yaku in a yukata on a night cherry-blossom (yozakura) date with Rentaro.
The series’ official X (Twitter) account is also running a signed-script giveaway campaign featuring the autographs of Wataru Kato (Aijou Rentaro) and Rie Kugimiya (Yaku).
About the Series
100 Kanojo is a romantic comedy manga by Rikito Nakamura and Yukiko Nozawa, serialised in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump. The story follows Rentaro, a high-school boy told by the god of love that he is fated to meet 100 destined partners — and that failing to love each of them will result in their deaths. Season 3 is currently airing on TOKYO MX and other channels.
